The Knights of Columbus St. Mary Holy Family Council #12465 hosted its annual dinner and presentations of awards on Thursday, June 21st at the Royal Canadian Legion in Kensington.
Before the meal was served Grand Knight Kyle MacNeill, our EMCEE for the evening, read all the names of deceased Brother Knights, fourteen in total since receiving our charter in 1999, and held a moment of silence in their memory.

Following the meal, catered by Branch No. 9 Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Grand Knight Kyle introduced the special guests attending our banquet that included: Father Frank Jay, Doreen Beagan presenter of the Tom Began Award and Marion Curley President of St. Mary’s Holy Family CWL. Grand Knight Kyle also introduced the wives of deceased Brother Knights in attendance and recognized the wives that were unable to attend.
Presentations
Tom Beagan Memorial Award: For volunteer works over and above the call of duty in our parish, in community and the world at large was presented to Vic Negus by Brother Tom Began’s wife, Doreen Beagan.

Chaplain of the Year: For his dedicated service to our council and our works in the community, Father Frank Jay received the Chaplain of the Year award for all of PEI and was honored at Sunday Mass both at Holy Family and at St. James in Summerfield and was presented with a keeper plaque by Grand Knight Kyle at our banquet.

Knight of the Year: For his contributions and hard work in making 2017-2018 such a successful fraternal year was awarded to Tyler Doucette by Grand Knight Kyle.

Family of the Year: Award went to Darren and Melanie Cash and children Danielle and Nolan for their volunteer work in their parish and community throughout the year.

Door Prizes were given out during the evening consisting of a Southwest River Cruise for eight donated by Doug LeClair, round of golf for two with cart donated by Eagles Glenn and a pass for two to Air Show Atlantic donated by Spring Valley Building Center. The winner of the 50/50 draw was Carl Gallant.

The Knights of Columbus is the world¹s largest Catholic family oriented lay organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people. Each year, our local council donate many volunteer hours to community and help raise and distribute money for community services.
